Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT)

DFWA is an intervener at the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal and has a professional workplace advocate to perform our representational role.  The Tribunal has a long list of matters it is investigating and the DFWA intervenes on matters where it is able. A major focus of the DFWA's involvement in the past year was the 2017 WRA (see WRA in the Current Issues on the left)

Further information on the DFRTs activities can be found on their website.

9 March 2018 - CHANGES TO RAAF OFFICER AVIATION PAY STRUCTUREThe DFRT’s Decision on this matter was recently released. DFWA notes that the DFRT decision states:   "We note the ADF intent that there will be “no detriment to the individual”, so that would mean the transition would stretch out over between four and eight years while we remove each of the individuals from the pre-OAPS systems in a fair and equitable manner.”  DFWA understands that RAAF is going to plug people into the new structure once they reach at least remunerative parity with their existing structure, essentially on a case by case basis over several years.

Whilst the new OAPS structure has been approved by the Tribunal for Air Force (only) we would be interested to hear of any situations where people are disadvantaged.  It will also be interesting to see what Navy and Army do now ! Should any ADF member have any comment, please send an email to vp-cos@dfwa.org.au
