Media Release: Appointment of Major General Natasha Fox AM, CSC as ADF Chief of Personnel

The Defence Force Welfare Association (DFWA) welcomes the appointment of Major General Natasha Fox AM, CSC to the newly created and critically important position of Chief of Personnel within the Australian Defence Force.

The position was one recommended by the recent report of the 2023 Defence Strategic Review that found that the ADF’s current personnel management system was fragmented and inefficient. To increase its effectiveness, efficiency and cohesiveness the report’s finding was that the overall system should be integrated and centralised.

Commenting on the position and the appointment itself, DFWA’s National President, Del Gaudry, said that “the position of Chief of Personnel was a positive development for ADF Members and their families.”

Gaudry said that ”it will provide a strong, senior-level advocate for ADF personnel and was a significant reform that would improve the ADF’s personnel management system.”

As for Major General Fox herself, Gaudry considered her to be ”a highly experienced, capable and respected leader within the ADF who is well-positioned to lead this important change to centralise its personnel management system.”

Gaudry noted that “Major General Fox will become the first female 3-star officer in the ADF, and her appointment as Chief of Personnel is a positive sign that the ADF is fully committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.”
